Part #: IGN-HallTester

An i
ndispensable tool for every professional mechanic for testing hall sensor functionality as well as setting ignition timing. More capable than the BMW Timing tester and adapter cable 88 88 6 123 650 and 90 88 6 123 652.

The tester displays the switching voltage of the Hall sensors in both switching states. This measurement is the standard measurement for problems with Hall sensors. By own power supply with 9 V block battery the static ignition adjustment and control is possible also with removed engine.
Workshop suitable ABS housing with lateral rubberized edge zones.
Note that the Airhead hall sensor is a single sensor - requires only one channel. The K Bikes and Oilheads have two hall sensors and require tests on both channels.

This hall tester is used for testing and for timing the following BMW Hall sensor Part #'s
12 11 1 244 088 (Airhead "Bean Can"), 12 11 1 459 033, (K1, K1100, K100), 12 11 1 459 049 (K75), 12 11 1 465 077 (K1200), 12 11 2 306 137 (BMW Oilhead flat connector), 12 11 7 673 277 (BMW Oilhead with oval connector)

Description

Operating Instructions:

  1. Insert a 9V Battery (at this point the red light will shine if the switch is on Channel 1 or Channel 2)
  2. Unplug the Hall Trigger Sensor from the wiring harness
  3. Ensure that the piston is locked at Top Dead Center.
  4. Connect the Halltester with the Hall Trigger Sensor
  5. Move the switch on the Halltester to Channel 1 or Channel 2 - The green light will shine and the tester is unit is now ready for use
  6. Set the switch to Channel 1 to test the first Sensor or Channel 2 to test the second sensor. When using the adapter to test a 2V ignition only the first channel is used.
  7. Rotate the Hall Sensor plate and when the hall sensor is triggered the red light will shine - this is the point of ignition.
  8. Note - if the light does not switch from red to green when turning the rotor then your Hall Sensor is defective.
  9. Be advised that working on the ignition requires special precautions due to very high voltages - always see a professional if you encounter problems
